Pink Ballet, Level I- A joyful introduction to the dance form and elements of the body, space, time and energy. Children learn, explore, create and share.
Orange and Purple Ballet, Level II and III. These classes are for the student who has demonstrated a readiness for a higher level of work and exploration. Children will explore the element of the day and work on this element through technical exercises and movement across the floor.
Green and Blue Ballet, Level IV and V. A continuation of level III and is for the student interested in the technical, creative, and performing aspects of the dance form.
Class Descriptions
Some classes just defy being defined, but we've tried.
Conditioning. Highly recommended for intermediate to advanced dancers to increase flexibility and strengthen the core. Will decrease the possibility of injury by building overall strength.
Lyrical. A fusion dance style of Jazz and Ballet, usually performed to music involving powerful lyrics to match the movements. This beautiful, expressive style of dance is a way for intermediate to advanced dancers to express strong, emotional and communicative ideas through their talents. Pre-requisites for this class should be Ballet II and Jazz II.
Modern. A freer, more expressive style of dance including all kinds of techniques and disciplines. Strong use of core and center must be achieved; while in class the students will experience and experiment with using their strength to develop their sense of off-balance movement and growth. In this class, students learn to push past their own limits of structured dance, and experience movement in its purest form.
Contemporary Dance. A style of expressive dance that combines elements of several dance genres including modern, jazz, lyrical, and classical ballet. Contemporary dancers strive to connect the mind and the body through fluid dance movements.
Theater Jazz. Focus on jazz and musical theater dance technique and combinations from musicals such as Chicago, A Chorus Line, West Side Story, and more.
Poms/Hip Hop Combo. This is a class for beginners that want to try out a couple less main stream styles of dance! The Poms portion of the class would consist of learning motions and combos that are used by "pommies" of all ages! You even get to work with pom poms yourself and be just like the girls dancing on the sidelines of your local high school football games. On the hip hop side of the class, the student would get the opportunity to experience what the emerging genre of hip hop has to offer. Hip hop is an always changing and evolving style of dance and there is a lot more to it than you see in the movies. For the May Recital the class would perform a Hip Hop and Pom combo routine showing off their new skills in both styles. This is an excellent class for the dancer that wants to try new styles of dance!
