Costuming Paperwork
Individual class costuming documents are below. Please be sure read the letter below!
KU Studios Performers:
Here are your reminders about the costumes and theater requirements, as we prepare to go into the theatre
on November 10, 2013. You are receiving along with this letter our theatre week schedule. Please have your
student at the theater 10 minutes before your scheduled time on stage and make sure they have their shoes
on ready to go on stage. Our last day at the studio is November 9, 2013. Our recital is November 15th and 16th at the Berger Performing Arts Center on the campus of the Arizona School for the Deaf and Blind.
You should bring your costuming to the theatre during rehearsal so our staff can make sure that everyone has the costuming they need and steam anything they need steamed. Your personal costumes need to be labeled with your name. If KU is providing a costume it will be at the theatre for you. Make sure all your personal items are clearly marked. A small laundry-type basket (marked with your name and class) is the best way to keep track of everything. Please hang up all costume items between shows and tidy your dressing area. (Parents you may go back after the show and help your child).
Please see the attached costume list for specific costumes your child needs for each class they are in. This will list costumes plus specific notes for hair, tights, shoes, props, etc.
HAIR AND MAKEUP – If hair is long it should be worn away from the face. This can be accomplished in several different ways. For example: clips, barrettes, partially pulled back. We want our girls to look feminine. Fuller hair is much more attractive on the big stage. Makeup is acceptable on the big stage. Parents this is your responsibility. Base, blush and lip color is fine in good taste. Lip color is fine in good taste, young girls should not wear red lipstick. Eye makeup should be kept to a minimum on young children. They tend to rub their eyes. Do not expect your child to do her own makeup and have it look good. They need guidance. Please NO GLITTER - and if you are adding hair accessories please make sure they match the costuming. KU WILL NOT HAVE A SUPPLY OF HAIR CLIPS, HAIR TIES, OR BOBBY PINS FOR YOUR USE SO MAKE SURE YOU BRING PLENTY. THE BOUTIQUE WILL HAVE THESE ITEMS FOR SALE.

-CELL PHONES MUST BE TURNED OFF FROM THE TIME YOU GO BACKSTAGE UNTIL THE END OF THE SHOW
